Further details regarding the airport pick-up service will be communicated closer to your arrival date.

ITA Orientation The orientation is for prospective international TA’s who have never taught in the U.S. International TA’s who are coming to UConn after having taught at another U.S. institution should submit written evidence of the TA position to the UCAELI office. English proficiency may be certified based on previous TA experience, but the student is still welcome to attend the UConn ITA orientation.

Regional Campus Orientation Sessions
UConn offers many orientation programs to new students- you are required to attend some orientation programs, while others are optional. Please use the information below to find out more information about your orientation programs. This list does not include all orientations – for example, if you are a graduate student, your academic program or academic department might also require you to attend a departmental orientation.
Avery Point Campus
New international students (F and J visa holders) at the Avery Point campus are invited to attend the Storrs Campus orientation referenced above on TBD. Avery Point students attending the Storrs Campus orientation will need to register in advance and arrange their own transportation to Storrs. Avery Point international students who cannot attend will need to make an appointment with Neena Kapoor for an orientation session. The in person campus visit information will be sent out prior to the start of the semester. Please contact Neena Kapoor to schedule your orientation time.
GBLC Campus
TBD Mandatory session for new international (F and J visa holders) students at the GBLC campuses.
ISSS GBLC will host an in-person graduate students orientation session on TBD starting at 9:30 a.m. at the GBLC campus. This required session will provide important visa information and requirements and allow students to meet the ISSS advisor, learn about the services ISSS provides and ask questions. Please complete the registration form here once you have secured your visa and finalized your travel plans.
Hartford Campus

TBD Mandatory session for new international (F and J visa holders) students at the Stamford campus.
ISSS Stamford will host an in-person graduate students orientation session on TBD, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in DWTN 108. This is a mandatory session for new international graduate students at the Stamford campus. Lunch will be provided. This required session will provide important visa information and requirements and allow students to meet the ISSS advisor, learn about the services ISSS provides and ask questions. Please fill out the form to register by August 10, 2025.
